These are some of the websites that I will be using with the Kindergarten and First Grade students in Media class. You are welcome to look them over, but I would prefer that you allow me to be the first one to introduce them to your children.
Using a Mouse
Younger students may need to practice using a mouse to get comfortable using some of the programs. This link will take you to some online games that will allow a child to practice (often with some adult reading help) clicking, double clicking, dragging, and dropping.
We will use this site to practice using computer tools to draw and to create images. |
Starfall ABCs
Starfall ABCs provides a fun and interactive way for beginning students to learn which letters make which sounds. Students click on the letter and see and hear words that use that sound. A great place for Kindergarten and first grade students to work on letter identification and letter sounds. |
This site allows students to log on to the reading program that they use at school. |
IXL Math
https://www.ixl.com/recommendations/
Practice your math skills on this web site. A teacher will help you log on the first times. |
This site is a free, fun way to introduce children to keyboarding. Once introduced, children will be able work on improving their keyboarding skills at their own pace. |
This site provides a range of on-line exercises to help students begin to learn the concepts underlying computer programming. |
