Welcome to a few websites that you might choose to explore with your children. Some of these sites do include advertising. If you would prefer to avoid advertising, you may want to consider installing Adblock Plus as an add-on to your browser.  This add-on blocks almost all advertising from appearing on the pages you browse.  We have chosen at the school to focus more on teaching our younger students how to find and select appropriate books (with adult help) in the library each week.  These are sites you may wish to explore with your children at home.

Using a Mouse

Younger students may need to practice using a mouse to get comfortable using some of the programs.  This link will take you to some online games that will allow a child to practice (often with some adult reading help) clicking, double clicking, dragging, and dropping.

Starfall ABCs

Starfall ABCs provides a fun and interactive way for beginning students to learn which letters make which sounds.  Students click on the letter and see and hear words that use that sound.  A great place for Kindergarten and first grade students to work on letter identification and letter sounds.

PreK and K Sheppard Software

Sheppard Software provides wonderful, free games and activities for children of all ages.  This link takes you to games especially geared toward the younger students, to work on colors, numbers, letters, and animals.
Match upper and lower case letters to bring the color back.

Starfall

Starfall provides a fun set of stories and activities to encourage the burgeoning reader. Students can click on the words and hear the word sounded out.  If they are more advanced, they can just read stories on their own by clicking the arrows.

PBS Kids Games

PBS Kids provides games on a variety of topics, including letters and math.  Children may find it entertaining to work on their learning with familiar TV characters.

Shalom Sesame

Shalom Sesame has fun website with many videos.  Learn about holidays, Israel, or Hebrew.  You can even sing along!

Peg and Cat Math

This site, as part of PBS, has videos and exercises to help students learn a variety of math concepts.
